Do I qualify for paralympic/para-equestrian events?

Can you answer moodymare’s question about Arthritis?:
i have fibromyalgia (a type of rheumatism) it’s a chronic muscle pain syndrome and related to chronic fatigue syndrome and M.E.
Often nicknamed and “invisible” illness and so not very well known or identified.
I’m at an extreme disadvantage in many ways when competing against “normal” riders.
Anybody know if this would qualify me for para-equestrian games?
(I’m UK based if that makes any difference).

Arthritis Feedback: There is a simple way to find out. You need to contact the organization that is organizing the event and ask them. I do believe that your condition would qualify you in the States, but you need to confirm that with whatever organization controls in the UK.
Arthritis Feedback: I have fibromygia too, along with my blown out knees. The fibro can certainly make riding a pain in more ways than one, but it’s also good for us.
I don’t even know if I qualify for the para-Olympic events with the fibro and useless legs, but it is an interesting question. I too would like to know where to get info on this, so please let me know if you find anything. I live in Germany, for now.
My pain doc says to ride through that pain, fog and drugs or it will get worse faster. He’s right, it does. No riding = hospital and IV’s for me. Keep riding!!

I’ve found you need to contact your UK FEI admin or your National Equestrian Federation. This is al I’ve found so far.
Arthritis Feedback: I seem to recall reading an article in one of my horse magazines about someone who had something similar, or perhaps exactly that, who did compete. I’d contact the organization to find out!
